We’re at that time of year when you are basically being pelted with all things pumpkin spice. The coffee shops are bringing back their lattes and fall muffins, Trader Joe’s is about to dump pumpkin into everything including their body butter (seriously, horde that stuff if you see it, slather yourself in it after your shower and thank me later) and apple picking is no longer a far off dream but will be ready to roll in 1-2 weeks for some varieties. The only problem with this is for many places, it’s still 90 degrees plus and while many of us remember the calendar turning to September almost instantly feeling 20 degrees cooler, that is rarely the case these days. (Or you choose to live in a hot weather environment.) So what does one do when they crave the delicious taste of autumn with the power to cool your core temperature from swamp-like humidity and grossness of summer hanging on? You make an Apple Cider Slush!
I remember seeing a sign for these on our way back from a road trip, and I was like “I WANT THAT!” We pulled in and were immediately engulfed in a line of cars waiting to get in, hoards of families lollygagging around and no available parking spaces. My twitch response kicked in, and I said to go around and head for the exit because my sanity was more important. Now that cider season is upon us again, I’d like to think my super simple version was better than theirs anyway! 😉 This gives you the delicious taste of cider that your fall gene is probably craving right now while still satisfying the kid in you that doesn’t want to let go of summer! The video shows you how to bring it all together!

Ingredients
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1 1/2-2 cups of ice (depending on your preference)
- Ground cinnamon (a sprinkle for garnish or consider adding 1 tsp to the cider for more spiced flavor)
You will need:
- Blender or mini blender
Instructions
- Place one cup of apple cider in your blender.
- Add 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon if you'd like a mulled cider taste.
- Add ice and pulse until it looks like slush.
- Carefully pour or scoop into a serving glass. (Scooping ensures it won't let loose on you and go all over the counter. A friend told me.)

OMFG, I WANT THIS IN MY MOUTH.
Also, I think I need pumpkin body butter from Trader Joe’s too.
Is it in stores now?
I’ve got one cup of cider left so I see this in my near future. You definitely need the pumpkin body butter. It wasn’t there last weekend and their new Fearless Flyer hasn’t come out yet but if I happen to see it, I’ll let ya know because you have to POUNCE on that stuff!
love this take on spiced cider
Thanks! It’s quite refreshing and yummy!
I bet this would be great with a cherry hard cider too! Thanks for sharing at the What’s for Dinner party.
Absolutely!! YUM!
Great autumn taste!
Definitely!!
This sounds so yummy on a hot fall day! I love my fall beverages but it’s too hot to drink them, this is such a great solution! 🙂
The best of both seasons, for sure!

I have had apple cider slush at seasonal apple orchards before, and it’s to die for. I never considered making it myself. LOVE this recipe! Pinning. Then making.

It sure is!! Bring on the cider!
Yum, love the video of the apple cider slush. I live in Florida and it is HOT. Some Thanksgivings we have on the A/C.
Well, then this would be the perfect drink to serve! You can always make a batch right before people are scheduled to arrive and it’ll be good in the fridge in a chilled pitcher for about 30 minutes!
What a special treat, can’t wait to taste this slush! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday, your post is awesome. Hope you are having a great week and come back to see us soon!
