I was thinking about Valentines Day recipes and I’ll be honest, I was unmotivated to do some over the top dessert. I was in the middle of KonMari-ing my house and what would spark joy was a simple but appropriately colored dessert for the Hallmark holiday. I go back and forth as to whether or not I want to celebrate year to year which you can imagine keeps the hubby on his toes. When I was making my favorite Halloween Quik Brownies last year, I remembered thinking “I wonder if I could use strawberry?” I can confirm with gusto the answer is yes and are perfect for Valentines Day or for an adorable birthday party treat! Look how dense and moist they are!
I thought about putting some white frosting on top which you could totally do but I treated them like brownies and kept them naked except for their chocolate bling. (Sorry, I don’t know what the current term for “bling” is.) Vanilla frosting would give a nice strawberries and cream taste to them and you could top them with your favorite sprinkles. They smelled so good baking and while I was going to try to be good and split one with the hubby, I caved. One for him and one for me…no regrets. I love that each bite is slightly different. You can get a regular blondie taste in one bite then a kick of strawberry in another. No this doesn’t use real strawberries picked in organic fields with unicorns frolicking in a stream of Perrier but sometimes you keep it real with what you might have on hand. If you know someone who is among the many who apparently go through a breakup around this time of year, help them eat their feelings by giving them broken heart blondies and maybe a novelty voodoo doll.

Notes
Spread some vanilla frosting on top for a "strawberries and cream" taste!
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cup Nesquik® Strawberry Powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
- 2 eggs
- 9 chocolate hearts (I used Hershey's Chocolate Strawberry hearts)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt your butter in a microwave safe dish on defrost so it doesn't get too hot. (I do defrost 3 which is just under a minute until the butter is 3/4 melted then stir it the rest of the way.) Set aside.
- In a large bowl, add flour, strawberry powder, baking powder, salt, brown and granulated sugars. Stir to combine and set aside.
- In a medium bowl, add your two eggs, vanilla and whisk in your cooled melted butter.
- Add egg mixture to flour mixture and stir until thoroughly combined. Batter will be very thick.
- Spread batter into a greased 13x9 pan and place cookies on top as seen in video.
- Bake for 28-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes in pan and serve.

Quik is such a comfort “food” item for me because I ate so much of it in my childhood. I remember getting so excited when I would get extra Quik in my glass of milk and get those chocolate powder clumps. Ahh the 70’s and 80’s.
Also, I need the voodoo doll! When people piss me off, I can just poke the hell out of them.
And I just now subscribed to your YouTube channel. Why I hadn’t before, I have no idea.
Happy Friday 🙂
There’s just something about seeing that bunny and you get the warm fuzzies and yes, those clumps were the best. BONUS! The voodoo doll is a nice stress reliever so consider it “self-care” and use your HSA to pay for it. 😀 Happy Friday!!
Oh my, these look and sound so beautiful! I think I would add some freeze-dried strawberries too! What a wonderful recipe to share with us, just in time for Valentines Day! (for those of us who choose to bake for that occasion) Thanks so much for bringing these over to us at Fiesta Friday this week.
They came out SOOO much better than I even anticipated! I’m making a batch to share Friday because I don’t trust myself alone with them! 😀
These sound wonderful, I’ll be showing them to my family. Maybe we’ll make some this weekend 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
I think your family will love them, I know we sure do! 😀
the strawberry powder is an interesting addition but the recipe still sounds delicious. Thanks for linking up at #OMHGWW and hope to see you next week!
I know it sounds weird but it’s just dried strawberries and regular strawberries have too much moisture. A great way to get the strawberry taste sans mush!
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure it would work but was ecstatic with the results! They’re sooo yummy!
If I added crushed strawberries instead of the powder, do you think I’d need to add a little flower because of the extra liquid? I didn’t know if you have a similar fruit recipe that you’ve experimented with.
Thanks for sharing with us on the Homestead Blog Hop. Keep the great recipes coming our way!
Strawberries have too much moisture on their own so the flour could counter some of that but I’d have no idea what ratio to tell you. You could always experiment and let us know how it goes!
