Oatmeal Raisin Granola

Jump to recipe

I love to make homemade granola. It’s not just the crunch and texture but it’s knowing exactly what’s going into the batch.  This Oatmeal Raisin Granola is the snack version of an oatmeal raisin cookie with a little less guilt.  (You know you can’t eat just one oatmeal raisin cookie, those things are TOO good!)   I know it can sound daunting to make your own granola over just buying a batch at the store but this is a fun one for the kids.  Who doesn’t want to dig in there and get their hands all dirty in a good way?  If they have a literal hand in making something, they’re more apt to eat it.

Hands on food fun!

It’s great as a topping for your morning yogurt (parfait anyone?), a post workout snack or a little something sweet but not over the top when you have a wee case of snacking syndrome.   I have to say though, if I don’t pre-portion this, I can easily get into trouble and it’s easy to think you’re eating healthy so you can have as much as you want.  Nope.  I buy little snack bags, weigh them on my food scale so they’re the exact right portion and I get 10 servings to put in a big mason jar.  If I didn’t do, this would be me at snack time.

Oh look…it fell unattended…let me just Hoover that up with my face.

I'm a long time cook/baker that makes food centric recipe videos to help the novice cook or welcome a seasoned cook that wants to focus on the food. I'm passionate about both Christmas and cooking. Once my baking gene gets activated in September, I want to bake all the things. Grab a cup of hot cocoa and come on into my kitchen!

  1. I made homemade granola bars years ago and they were delicious but didn’t form into bars very well. I am positive it was the baker and not the recipe. I cannot wait to try this, though. Love me some granola.

    1. Try, try again! (I use boiled dates and mash ’em together.) I could chuck this stuff in my granola hole all day long…so good!

    1. You know it! I had some this morning when I waiting too long for breakfast but was still a little hungry. It was the perfect thing to grab and go!
