When it’s summer, what is the first thing most people crave? Ice cream cones, of course! There’s nothing like the first taste of your favorite flavor sitting on a sugar or cake cone to make you feel like a kid again. When you want the full ice cream cone effect for a crowd without having to stand there scooping while hoping none of them fall onto the floor en route to their intended recipient, this is the cake you want and it’s only three ingredients!
Did I mention there is fudge sauce involved?
It almost reminds me of that fancy pants ice cream cake Viennetta from the 90’s but like it got hit with the ugly stick. But we’re an accepting crowd, right? We prefer quality to vanity especially when it’s all going to the same place! A childhood cookie favorite (well, pre-1990’s I presume) provides the crunch of a cake cone while your favorite ice cream and a respectable* amount of fudge sauce does the rest. (*- Respectable being in the eye of the beholder, of course.) It won’t be long before you’re asking for another slice!

Notes
Use Magic Shell if you prefer a "dip cone" effect. Also, other flavored wafers are available like chocolate, strawberry and even peanut butter!
Ingredients
- 1 quart of your favorite ice cream
- 1 package vanilla sugar wafers (or your preferred flavor)
- Fudge sauce or Magic Shell
You will also need:
- Loaf pan
- Butter knife or bench scraper
- Wax paper
- Spoon
Instructions
- Line the bottom of a loaf pan with wax paper.
- Pre-fit the wafers by placin a wafer down then another beside it and trim to fit repeating for the whole layer. (See video)
- Soften ice cream for about 5 minutes for churned or up to 10 minutes for regular.
- Starting with the ice cream layer, spoon in enough to cover the bottom and smooth it out as evenly as possible into a chilled loaf pan.
- Once the ice cream is down, layer the sugar wafers on top making sure to work quickly especially with churned since it does melt quicker. Put it in the freezer to harden if necessary between layers.
- Repeat the steps with the other layer making sure you start and end with ice cream. You’ll have two layers of the sugar wafers in between. Cover it with plastic wrap and freeze for at least an hour.
- Loosen it before you are close to serving so if you have company coming, do this about an hour ahead of time. Using a butter knife and/or bench scraper, go around the perimeter of the pan.
- Then cover it and put it back in the freezer until you’re ready to serve.
- Just before serving stir up your fudge sauce and I wouldn’t heat it or it’ll melt right through.
- Flip your pan over onto a chilled serving platter and don’t forget to remove the wax paper.
- Slather the fudge sauce on the top and sides and place it back in the freezer for about 10 minutes on a flat surface to set and you’re ready to slice!
